If It Makes You Happy
9/02/2014Sept 2nd: Write about what makes you happy, from the little joys to the huge game-changers.
It's the little things:
1. Waking up to the smell of coffee
2. Listening to the rythm of falling rain
3. Hearing kids playing
4. Someone saying 'thank you'
5. Laughing with friends
6. Remembering something funny that happened and laughing about it when no one else is around
7. A text message or phone call from my sister
8. A long phone conversation with my best friend
9. Texting my friend all day long
10. Participating in old traditions or making new ones
11. When strangers say hello
12. TV marathons!
13. Movie nights
14. Staying up late to talk and laugh with my fiancé
15. Buying new clothes
16. Laying in the grass and soaking in the sun
17. The swoosh of cross country skis on fresh snow
18. The first snow of the year
19. Everything about Christmas
20. Inside jokes
21. Making a really yummy meal for someone
The big things count, too:
• my family makes me so very happy. Every time I get together with my immediate or extended family I am reminded of where all my quirky habits and sense of humor comes from.
• my fiancé is my dream come true! I never thought I would find such a perfect, smart, funny, caring, considerate, awesome, gentleman. Just seeing his face at the beginning and end of each day makes me the happiest girl alive! I'm lucky lucky.
• my friends are the most caring, supportive and loving people I have ever met. I know that no matter what I'm going through I will always have an awesome group of people to count on!
• my career makes me so happy. I love having the opportunity to share people's stories everyday of my life. Awesome, my job is a total blessing.
Well, that's a long enough list, although I think I could go on and on. What makes you happy?

Love your post - totally with you on the 'remembering something you found funny and chuckling about it when no-one's around" one - I do that ALL the time!! So refreshing to 'see' someone with such a wholesome perspective xx

ReplyDeleteI love Christmas too.. even though I'm not religious.. the festive gifting just makes everyone generous and forgiving I guess..
I like it when strangers say hello since it's kinda rare in Asian countries without any objective but really just greetings..

The sound of rain always makes me so happy too! What are your favorite TV shows to binge watch?

ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a blessing to have a good man in your life! And the small little things in life have a lot of power to bring smiles--I laugh to myself about past funny events with great frequency. ;)
